The suspect, identified as Robert Kwabena Boamah, was captured at Namong near Offinso on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, following a police tip-off.

Police in the Ashanti Region have apprehended a 34-year-old taxi driver accused of brutally murdering a young woman in Abuakwa, part of the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.
The suspect, identified as Robert Kwabena Boamah, was captured at Namong near Offinso on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, following a police tip-off.
According to a statement issued by DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Boamah appeared physically weak upon his arrest and later confessed to ingesting weedicide in a failed suicide attempt after committing the alleged murder.
The police had launched an investigation two days earlier, on April 21, after receiving a report from the Tanoso Electoral Area in Kwadaso Municipality about a body discovered near the Mighty Jesus Educational Complex at Dominase, close to Abuakwa. Officers responded swiftly to the scene and identified the victim as 23-year-old Dorothy Owusu Annor, also known as Maa Abena. She was found with multiple stab wounds.
Authorities also found an abandoned Opel Astra taxi bearing registration number AS8575-Y at the crime scene, with the ignition key still inside. Investigators traced the vehicle to Boamah, linking him directly to the crime. Upon arrest and questioning, he admitted responsibility for the murder.
After receiving emergency medical treatment at the Abuakwa Polyclinic for the weedicide ingestion, Boamah was stabilized and discharged. He remains in police custody as authorities prepare to bring him before the court.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and pledged to pursue justice rigorously in cases involving violent crimes.
