Speaker at the 8th Annual Ghana Energy Awards which recently took place in Accra, shone a spotlight on the pivotal role of local content within the energy sector.

Notable Award Recipients:
- Energy Personality of the Year (Male): Kojo Aduhene, CEO of LMI Holdings
- Energy Personality of the Year (Female): Nana Akua Agyei, Head of Legal at the Petroleum Commission
- CEO of the Year - Power: Ing. Samuel Dzamesi, CEO of Bui Power Authority
- Energy Company of the Year - Renewable: Helios & Solar
- Local Content Legacy Achievement Award: Dr. Ben K.D. Asante, CEO of Ghana National Gas Company
- Clean Energy Initiative of the Year: Helios Solar
- Lifetime Achievement Award: Lawyer Ama Jantuah Banful
Event Director, Ing. Henry Teinor, emphasized that this year’s theme, “The Role of Local Content in Building Ghana’s Energy Sector,” was chosen to underscore the sector's growth potential through local content. He described local content as more than just a policy but as a "catalyst for progress," with the awards serving to showcase its transformative impact.
He outlined GEA's goal for Ghana’s energy sector to not only serve as a benchmark within Africa but to inspire global standards in self-sufficiency and industrial resilience.
The GEA also introduced the West Africa Power and Petroleum Awards, a new initiative aimed at celebrating achievements within the broader West African energy landscape. The chairman of the GEA awards panel, Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, reinforced the importance of local content in empowering Ghanaian companies, creating jobs, and reducing reliance on foreign expertise.
Special guest, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of the Oguaa Traditional Area, praised the Ghana Energy Awards for fostering a platform to advance local content. He urged continued commitment to Ghana's local content agenda, calling for active involvement from all stakeholders.
Representing the Minister for Energy, Deputy Minister John Kobina Aboah Sanie conveyed the government’s dedication to nurturing Ghanaian-led innovation in the energy field. He highlighted that local content is not just a policy but an opportunity for collective growth, fostering a resilient energy sector that attracts sustainable investments.
The Ghana Energy Awards continues to recognize industry achievements and promote the advancement of local content as essential to the future of Ghana’s energy sector.
