Parliament has approved a request from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) to engage with two Members of Parliament (MPs) as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to a statement issued by the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has sanctioned the meeting between NIB officials and Mustapha Yussif, MP for Yagaba Kubori, along with Kwame Asare Obeng (popularly known as A Plus), MP for Gomoa Central.
However, the approval comes with strict conditions. In line with Articles 117 and 118 of the 1992 Constitution and existing protocols governing interactions between Parliament and security agencies, the Speaker has directed that the meeting must take place within the parliamentary premises.
The engagement has been scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025, at 10:00 AM. It will be held in the Sir Emmanuel Charles Quist Conference Room, located within the Office of the Speaker.
The statement also notes that both MPs have been advised to attend the meeting with legal counsel, and NIB officials have been instructed to liaise with Parliament’s Legal Services Office upon arrival.
At this time, the specific details of the investigation remain undisclosed.
