Police in the Central Region have arrested six students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in connection with an alleged assault on a final-year student of Adisadel College in Cape Coast.
The Central Regional Command said the incident happened at about 15:30 on Friday, 20 February 2026, shortly after an inter-colleges sports festival ended at the Cape Coast Stadium.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 24 February, police identified the victim as Rexford Owusu-Ansah. Officers say he was attacked at Pedu Junction while walking back to campus with two friends.
According to police, the suspects stopped the three students to confirm whether they were from Adisadel College before the confrontation escalated.
The two friends managed to get away, the statement said, but the victim was allegedly knocked down and beaten.
Police also allege the attackers took his iPhone 17 Pro Max, GH¢1,400 and his shoes.
School authorities later handed the six juvenile suspects to the Kotokuraba Police Station at about 19:30 the same day, police said.
The victim was treated at the stadium clinic and later transferred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital, where he was discharged on Sunday, 22 February.
A medical report cited by police said he suffered a fracture around the right eye, leaving him unable to open it.
Police said the victim’s two friends had indicated they could identify the suspects.
The Central Regional Police Command condemned the incident and said the case would be handled under due process, adding that the suspects would be made to face the law.
