Seven courts in the Greater Accra Region have been directed to continue sitting despite the general suspension of court proceedings on Tuesday, July 28, and Friday, July 31, 2026.

The Judicial Service announced the suspension to allow judges and magistrates to participate fully in activities commemorating the 150th anniversary of Ghana’s Supreme Court.

In a letter dated July 27, 2026, Judicial Secretary Musah Ahmed said the affected judicial officers were expected to attend the anniversary durbar and climax event, as well as a thanksgiving service.

The seven courts exempted from the suspension are Circuit Court ‘1’, Adenta; Circuit Court ‘4’, Accra; Circuit Court ‘A’, Tema; District Court, La; District Court, Kotobabi; District Court, TDC, Tema; and District Court, Gbese.

These courts will therefore conduct proceedings on both days while other courts across the Greater Accra Region suspend sittings.

The directive follows an earlier letter issued on July 23 concerning invitations to the Supreme Court at 150 anniversary lectures in Accra.

The Judicial Secretary encouraged judges and magistrates to participate in the commemorative activities, noting that their involvement would be greatly appreciated.
