A man known as Hans Osei, alias Mulla, has been arrested in Yeji in the Bono East Region for allegedly posing as a medical doctor for more than a decade without any professional qualification.

Police confirmed that the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Yeji Zongo, where he had been running a makeshift clinic.

Investigations revealed that Osei had converted a rented, dilapidated chamber-and-hall apartment into a small health facility furnished with three beds.

Residents disclosed that before turning to the practice, he was locally recognised as a footballer who once played for Yeji Elfs during their Premier League days.

For over 11 years, Osei allegedly attended to unsuspecting patients by administering injections, setting up drips, and offering treatment, only referring critical cases to recognised hospitals.

During police interrogation, the suspect is said to have admitted he had no training from any recognised medical school yet continued to treat patients.

The police have indicated that further investigations are underway and Osei will be charged with impersonation and unlawful medical practice.
