A 19-year-old scrap dealer, Kwaku Issahaku, has been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court for allegedly stealing items belonging to the State Insurance Company (SIC) at its South Industrial Area branch in Accra.

Issahaku faces charges of unlawful entry and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors allege that Issahaku unlawfully entered the SIC yard on September 27, 2025, and made away with a one-door air-conditioning unit valued at GH¢4,000, a Hyundai Santa Fe bumper worth GH¢800, and a Hyundai Santa Fe door valued at GH¢1,000.

Appearing before the court presided over by Her Worship at Adabraka, the accused was granted bail in the sum of GH¢5,000 with two sureties.

According to the facts presented by Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana, the complainant, who serves as the System Administrator of a private security firm at North Industrial Area, reported that a security guard stationed at the SIC yard heard unusual movements within the premises around 5:30 p.m.

The guard, Sakibu Fataw of Lions Security Company, followed the sound and allegedly discovered Issahaku carrying the air-conditioning unit, bumper, and vehicle door.

He was immediately apprehended and handed over to police officers at the Kaneshie Police Station, along with the retrieved items.

During interrogation, Issahaku reportedly admitted entering the yard by scaling the wall, claiming he was searching for firewood when he came across the items.

The case has been adjourned, and investigations are ongoing.
