PPP apologizes to Margaret Sekyere after threat of legal action
The Communications Director of the PPP, Mr. Mantey had alleged that Birim LLC, the US-based firm that has sued the PPP boss had conspired with Madam Sekyere on the matter.
The Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) has issued an apology to the Board Chairperson of the Societe Generale Ghana Limited, Madam Margaret Sekyere over what it claims was an “obvious error”.
The Communications Director of the PPP, Mr. Mantey had alleged that Birim LLC, the US-based firm that has sued the PPP boss had conspired with Madam Sekyere on the matter.
However, the Board Chairperson issued a caution letter to the PPP PRO through her lawyers, that failure or refusal to render an apology on or before 21st June 2021 would result in “legal action for damages and costs, taken against [him] and the Progressive Peoples Party jointly and severally.”
Madam Margaret Sekyere’s lawyers observed that “an ordinary perusal of the writ commencing the legal action brought by Birim Group, LLC would reveal that it is a “Mavis Amanpene Sekyere” who has been named within and not a “Margaret Sekyere”.
In a recent letter sighed by Dennislaw News, the PPP has admitted the error and issued its apologies to “all persons known as Margaret Sekyere who may have suffered similar inconvenience as a result of the inadvertent reference made to a certain Margaret Sekyere in the PPP’s press statement of 8th June 2021.
The letter further states that the PPP’s press statement intended a certain Mavis Amampane-Sekyere, a former client of BlackShield, formerly Gold Coast Fund Management. The said Mavis Amampane-Sekyere is reported to have filed claims with the SEC to recover her locked-up funds and “purportedly sold her rights to a certain Birim LLC in the United States of America to sue on her behalf to recover the same funds.”
The PPP founder Dr. Kwesi Nduom has been sued by a US-based equity fund and securities investment company, Birim Group LLC on charges that include money laundering to the tune of $63,000,000.
