Police pick up 12 in Northern anti-drug swoop
The Northern Regional Special Operations Team, known as Red Maria, carried out the exercise on Wednesday, 22 April, at about 10:30am, according to a statement from the Regional Police Command.
A police anti-drug operation in Tamale and Tolon has led to the arrest of 12 suspects and the seizure of substances believed to be narcotics.

Police said the operation formed part of a routine crackdown on drug peddling and other unauthorised drug-related activity.
Among the items recovered were boxes of Tramadol and dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Shabu, Abdul Rahman Rashid, Zakaria Sulemana, Alhassan Ibrahim, Abdulai Manine, Abdullai Jalil, Abdul Rahman Hamidu, Latif Hamadu, Ibrahim Idrisu, Adam Fatawu, Abubakari Nayo and Iddrisu Mohammed.
After the initial phase of the operation in Tamale, the team moved on to Tolon, where further arrests were made.
All 12 suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with investigations.
