Police officer arrested with 84 parcels of suspected Indian Hemp, 2 officers promoted

A police officer, G/Sgt Lotsu Abegko with the Formed Police Unit in Accra, has been arrested for carrying 84 parcels of suspected Indian Hemp.

According to a police statement, the officer in question was chased after he refused to stop when he was signaled to do so by offices on duty.

The chase also led to an accident around the Kpeve Mountain area, which left the suspect with a fractured arm.

"He was arrested and sent to the hospital for treatment. He has since been transferred to the Police Hospital for further medical attention where he is under guard. The suspect will be put before the Court as soon as he is discharged," the statement said.

The two police officers, who effected the arrest, Inspector Azumah Komla Justice, and G/L/CpL Felix Diameh have also been promoted.
