Police invite Afenyo-Markin over alleged assault on officer during Judiciary protest

The Ghana Police Service has extended a formal invitation to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin to assist with investigations into a widely circulated video allegedly depicting him assaulting a police officer during the recent ‘Save the Judiciary’ demonstration.

In a public statement, the police indicated that several video recordings of the incident have been reviewed, leading to the decision to involve Afenyo-Markin in the inquiry. 

A formal request has also been sent to the Speaker of Parliament, seeking permission for the lawmaker to be made available for questioning.

The police officer involved in the alleged altercation is also expected to cooperate with the investigation as part of efforts to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
