The Bono Regional Police Command has interdicted several officers following the emergence of a viral video allegedly showing them collecting money from motorists at a roadside checkpoint.

In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer for the Command, police authorities confirmed that the officers in question have been identified and temporarily relieved of their duties pending a thorough and impartial investigation.

The video, which has triggered public outrage online, shows uniformed police officers receiving cash from drivers in what appears to be an informal checkpoint transaction.

Although the exact time and location of the incident remain under investigation, the Command has stated that steps are being taken to verify the authenticity of the footage and the context in which it was recorded.

The interdiction forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader reforms aimed at strengthening internal discipline, curbing extortion, and restoring public confidence in law enforcement operations across the country.

Authorities reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing that any officer found culpable would face strict disciplinary and legal sanctions in accordance with police regulations and Ghanaian law.
