Police arrest man over TikTok video on late Mion Lana

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in the Northern Region over a TikTok video linked to the death of the late Mion Lana, Mahamaru Abdulai.
The suspect, Abdulai Mohammed Saani, was picked up at Kumbungu on August 20, 2026, after police intelligence operations traced the video to him.
The Northern Regional Police Command said the video was considered provocative and had attracted the attention of its intelligence and investigative teams.
Following its circulation, the Regional Police Intelligence Department worked with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department to identify the person allegedly behind its production and distribution.
The enquiries led officers to Kumbungu, where Saani was arrested.
He was later transported to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale to assist with investigations.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances under which the video was produced and shared.
Investigators are also seeking to determine whether any other persons were involved.
The Police have not yet disclosed the exact content of the video or the specific offences being considered.
The late Mion Lana, Mahamaru Abdulai, was the subject of the video that triggered the police action.
