Police arrest man over illegal sale and installation of electricity metres
The suspect is part of a syndicate duplicating details of existing metres to be used for the installation of illegal metres.
A Technician, Henry Teye Adjirackor has been arrested by police in Mamprobi for selling and installing illegal electricity metres.
According to the Korle Bu District Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Solomon Tsawe, the suspect is part of a syndicate duplicating details of existing metres to be used for the installation of illegal metres.
“These criminal acts do not only deny the ECG of the needed revenue from the service we provide but they also pose a safety risk to customers, since the quality and safety of these illegal meters have not been audited,” he told reporters.
The police say investigations into the matter are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate.
