Police arrest man in Akatsi with 92 slabs of suspected Indian Hemp

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man in Akatsi, Volta Region, following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a large quantity of suspected narcotics.
The suspect, identified as Bukari Yakubu, was apprehended at his residence around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday. Police had reportedly placed him under surveillance prior to the operation due to suspicions of ongoing drug activity in the area.
According to an official police statement, preliminary investigations suggest that Yakubu has been actively involved in narcotics distribution across Akatsi and its neighboring communities.
A search of his premises resulted in the discovery of 92 slabs of a substance believed to be Indian hemp. The drugs were reportedly wrapped in yellowish packaging. Additionally, officers retrieved two Royal motorbikes believed to be stolen.
During initial questioning, Yakubu is said to have admitted that the items found in his home were his.
He is currently in custody and assisting police with further investigations. Authorities have confirmed that he will be arraigned before the court soon.
