A magistrates’ court in Ikorodu, Lagos, has cleared three overseas laboratories to conduct DNA tests on Liam, the son of the late singer Mohbad, in a case driven by a long-running paternity dispute within the family.

Lawyer Oladayo Ogungbe, who represents Mohbad’s father, said the court approved one lab in the United States and two in the United Kingdom. He added that the selection was split three ways: one chosen by the singer’s widow Wunmi, one by Mohbad’s father Joseph Aloba, and a third picked independently by the court.

Ogungbe said sample collection will be done with all parties present, and that welfare officers will supervise the process. The matter has been adjourned to 7 April 2026 for the taking of samples and further updates to the court.

Mohbad died in September 2023, and his father has repeatedly insisted on a DNA test amid questions raised after the circumstances of the singer’s death.
