A 54-year-old pastor has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court after prosecutors accused him of stealing a Honda Civic and using forged documents to dispose of it.

The accused, Hammond Love, denied the allegations when he appeared before the court and was ordered to remain in custody for two weeks pending further proceedings.

The case, according to the prosecution, began as what appeared to be a vehicle swap arrangement.

Police Chief Inspector Ebenezer Teye Okuffo told the court that the complainant, businessman Daniel Baidoo of SCC Weija, got to know the accused in October 2025. During that period, the pastor allegedly introduced himself as a car dealer and proposed that Baidoo hand over his Honda Civic, add GH¢30,000, and receive a Range Rover in return.

But prosecutors say the transaction did not go as presented.

Instead, on 7 November 2025, the accused and two other people allegedly took possession of the Range Rover from the complainant, after which the Honda Civic became the centre of the criminal complaint now before the court.

Investigators say they later discovered that the Honda Civic, valued at GH¢180,000, had been sold for GH¢150,000 after documents linked to the vehicle were allegedly falsified.

The prosecution further told the court that in a statement to police, the accused admitted some involvement and promised to correct the situation, but failed to do so.

That, the court heard, led to the present charges and his remand into custody.
