Passenger attacks driver with machete at Barekese

A 30-year-old Uber driver narrowly escaped death after being attacked with a machete by a passenger at Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The victim, identified as Kwadwo Antwi, had picked up the passenger from Abrepo Junction in Kumasi and was en route to Barekese when the attack occurred. 

According to his father, Mr. Alex, the assailant suddenly pulled out a cutlass and struck Antwi, injuring his hand and thigh as he struggled to unfasten his seat belt to escape.

The attacker then forced the driver out of the vehicle and sped off in the Toyota Vitz, registered AS 7104-22. Fortunately, Antwi survived the assault and is currently receiving treatment. Police have launched investigations to track down the suspect and recover the stolen car
