Oyibi mason jailed 35 years for defiling two daughters
Charles Seddoh was convicted on five counts of defilement and incest by the Circuit Court sitting at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police Headquarters.
A 35-year-old mason has been sentenced to 35 years’ imprisonment after a court found him guilty of repeatedly sexually abusing his two daughters at Oyibi in Accra.
Charles Seddoh was convicted on five counts of defilement and incest by the Circuit Court sitting at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Police Headquarters.
The court was presided over by Annette Sophia Essel.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court directed that the two survivors be referred to a psychologist for clinical therapy.
The court also ordered the Police to place them in a shelter to support their safety and recovery.
Chief Inspector Opoku Aniagyei, who led the prosecution, told the court that the complainant is Seddoh’s first daughter, now 18 years old.
Her younger sister, aged 15, was also identified as a victim in the case.
According to the prosecution, Seddoh began abusing the first victim in 2018 when she was 14 years old.
The abuse allegedly continued for about seven years.
The prosecution said he later began abusing the second victim in 2021, when she was 11 years old.
The court heard that whenever the girls resisted him, Seddoh assaulted them, denied them food and threatened to stop providing for them or supporting their education.
The prosecution said the victims complained to him about his conduct, and he promised to stop when they entered secondary school.
However, the abuse continued.
On January 3, 2025, at about midday, Seddoh allegedly forced the 15-year-old victim to have sex with him.
On January 24, 2025, at about 2 p.m., he also allegedly had sex with the 18-year-old victim.
The two victims reported the matter to the Adenta DOVVSU on January 31, 2025.
They were issued police medical forms.
On February 4, 2025, the mother of the 18-year-old victim handed over a packet of Fiesta condoms to Police.
She alleged that Seddoh had attempted to use them on her daughter.
Seddoh was arrested the same day.
The prosecution said he later led Police and the victims to the crime scene at Oyibi on February 5, 2026.
According to the prosecution, Seddoh admitted the offences in his caution statement.
After hearing the case, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to 35 years in prison.
