Only parties in a case, lawyers to enter court – Chief Justice

The Chief Justice has reminded the general public of the Judiciary’s earlier announced measures to decongest the courts.

According to Justice Anin Yeboah, this has become necessary due to the surge in covid-19 infections nationwide.

The head of the Judiciary’s directive on Thursday, which was first brought to the public’s attention on 16th and 20th of March 2020, among other things, emphasized the need for court sessions to be restricted only to parties in a case and their lawyers.

“Courts will practice strict case management techniques such that only parties and witnesses in cases listed to be heard on particular dates would be allowed into the courtroom to avoid large gatherings,” he wrote.

In the considered view of the Judiciary, these measures will prevent the spread of the covid-19 virus in all courts nationwide.
