Oliver Barker-Vormawor has extended a formal apology for his recent bribery allegations directed at Parliament’s Appointments Committee. His apology was conveyed through his legal representative, Nana Ato Dadzie, during a session where he was summoned to provide proof of his claims.
The controversy stemmed from a social media post in which Barker-Vormawor wrote.
Acknowledging that he authored the post, Barker-Vormawor, through his lawyer, clarified that his remarks had been misinterpreted.
“Mr. Chairman… We sincerely apologize for the post, which was intended for a different purpose,” said Nana Ato Dadzie. He also indicated that some other statements attributed to his client were not actually his.
Members of the committee, especially those from the minority, expressed their frustration over not being able to question Barker-Vormawor directly. Some insisted that he should personally respond to the allegations rather than having his lawyer speak on his behalf.
