NSS suspends Ashanti Regional Director over verbal assault on nurse

The management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has suspended its Ashanti Regional Director, Alex Opoku-Mensah for verbally assaulting a nurse on duty at the Mankyia Government Hospital. 

“The announcement of the suspension was made yesterday at an emergency meeting the Management of the Scheme held with Mr. Alex Opoku-Mensah. The Management decision is to allow further investigation into the alleged verbal assault of a nurse on duty at the Mankyia Government Hospital” NSS said in a press release dated December 1, 2022. 

A committee made up of representatives from NSS, the Public Services Commission, and the Ministry of Education would be investigating the matter and submit a report within one month to the management of NSS.

Suspended Alex Opoku-Mensah is expected to appear before the committee on Monday, December 5, 2022.
