Northern Region: Man arrested with foreign pistols

The suspect, Mohammed Iddi, was arrested at Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway and was found to have had in possession, six foreign pistols.

The police in the Northern Region on Thursday April 7, 2022 arrested a man for unlawful possession of firearms. 

The suspect, Mohammed Iddi, was arrested at Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway and was found to have had in possession, six foreign pistols.

“The suspect was arrested at the Pigu police barrier, on the Tamale-Bolgatanga Highway during routine police intelligence operations. The operation led to the retrieval of six (6) new foreign-made '9mm Calibre Bruni 92' pistols,” a police statement said.

Police have also confirmed the suspect has been remanded into police custody after he was arraigned before the Tamale High Court on April 8. He is to reappear on April 25, 2022.
