Nine remanded over alleged attack on police

Nine men have been placed on remand by the Obuasi Circuit Court over an alleged assault on police officers at the Tweapease Senior High School park in the Ashanti Region.

Police say the confrontation occurred on the Tweapease SHS park, where officers were on lawful duty when they were allegedly set upon by the suspects and others who are still being sought.
The judge ordered that all nine be kept in police custody while investigations continue.
The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its warning that attacks on officers will not be tolerated and has vowed to pursue anyone who assaults law enforcement personnel and ensure they face the full rigours of the law.
