New legal year begins, Judiciary commits to adopt technology in access to justice delivery

The new legal year, the 65th, is on the theme, ‘Improving Access to Justice in a pandemic through the use of technology.’

The judiciary has pledged to continue to improve access to justice delivery through the use of technology as the new legal year starts today.

Speaking at a special church service on Saturday, to mark the new legal year, Chief Justice, His Lordship Kwasi Anin-Yeboah assured that the judiciary will aggressively pursue the use of technology to improve access to justice delivery.

The new legal year, the 65th, is on the theme, Improving Access to Justice in a pandemic through the use of technology.’

“Today, with the use of teleconferencing equipment that we have procured, we are able to organise virtual hearings in some of our courts, with incalculable benefits for speed and convenience to all who have to interact with the judicial system. So as we begin this legal year, I urge every one of us to renew our commitment to the calling that brought all of us here.

Let us remember that the justice system rests on our daily actions and so we should endeavor to make those actions place it in the best possible light,” he said. 

In attendance were justices of the Supreme Courts, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, Director of Legal Education, Yaw Oppong, President of the Ghana Bar Association, Yaw Boafo, among others.
