NDC’s claim of 2020 Election rigging attempt to mislead supporters-Godfred Dame
The National Democratic Congress has petitioned the Inspector General of Police to investigate its claim of alleged illegal printing of excess presidential ballot to the tune of over a million in the 2020 General Election.
The Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Dame has described claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress of rigging in the 2020 Election as an attempt to mislead its teeming supporters.
According to him, this is an attempt by the opposition party to get their supporters to believe that their flagbearer, John Mahama performed better contrary to his abysmal performance in the 2020 General election.
He insists that this insistent attempt by the NDC is a desperate attempt to hide from the public, John Maham’s real performance in the 2020 General Election.
Mr. Dame made these statements when he addressed the Commonwealth Election Professionals Initiative Africa Region Training Program in Accra on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Furthermore, the AG used the opportunity to applaud and commend the Electoral Commission for conducting a credible and fair election in the wake of a pandemic.
“…What is even more surprising is the forum at which they made the allegation. They had the opportunity of filling such a claim at the Supreme Court, and they couldn’t even prove it. They couldn’t even tell the number of votes they obtained. I think it shows the total confusion that they are living under and in my view, it is just an attempt to unnecessarily deceive their supporters to think that Mahama performed any better, he did not,” he noted.
The National Democratic Congress has petitioned the Inspector General of Police to investigate its claim of alleged illegal printing of excess presidential ballot to the tune of over a million in the 2020 General Election. This followed an earlier call on the Police Service by the Electoral Commission on that claim made against its outfit by the largest opposition party.
This was after a Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Bossman Asare had disagreed and disputed the NDC’s claim.
