Minerals Commission to suspend online mineral rights applications from March 20
The suspension will remain in force until 19 June 2026.
The Minerals Commission says it will temporarily stop receiving new mineral rights applications through its online portal from 20 March 2026 as part of a clean-up of its Mineral Cadastre Register.
The suspension will remain in force until 19 June 2026.
According to a public notice issued on 18 March 2026, the measure will apply to fresh applications covering small-scale mining, industrial minerals and large-scale mineral rights.
The Commission said the pause is intended to allow it to clear backlogs and process applications that are already pending in the system.
That means no new online submissions will be accepted during the three-month period.
In the notice, the Commission said the exercise forms part of efforts to improve fairness, transparency and accountability in the handling of mineral rights applications in Ghana.
It has therefore asked prospective applicants, industry players and the public to take note of the directive and comply with it.
The Commission also apologised for any inconvenience the suspension may cause and said the move is aimed at improving the efficiency and integrity of Ghana’s mineral licensing system.
