Meet Latifa Teiya Fuseini: 2025 Top Law School Award Recipient

A proud alumna of the KNUST Faculty of Law, Latifa Teiya Fuseini has been adjudged the Overall Best Fresh Lawyer at the 2025 Call to the Bar ceremony held on October 10 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

She received the John Mensah Sarbah Prize, an award presented to the newly called lawyer who attains the highest academic distinction at the Ghana School of Law.

Teiya’s win marks the tenth time a graduate from the KNUST Faculty of Law has received this prestigious honour since 2011.

Latifa Teiya Fuseini, a 24-year-old Muslim woman, attended Achimota School from 2016 to 2019 for her senior high education. She later pursued a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she graduated with First Class Honours.

Teiya who is among 824 new lawyers called this year, is the  daughter of Alhaji Alhassan Bashir Fuseini, former journalist and the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu, who is currently the Head of Corporate Affairs for the Ghana Hajj Taskforce

She told Dennislaw News that her greatest aspiration in life is “to make my parents proud.”

Looking ahead, she noted that she is “open to anything exciting the future holds.”

Her advice to aspiring lawyers and law students is simple yet profound:

“Put in your best and trust God.”
