Meet Juventus Duorinaah;First hearing-impaired Ghanaian lawyer
Mr. Juventus Duorinaah, originally from Wa in the Upper West Region, began his education at the Wa School for the Deaf.
A hearing-impaired person, Juventus Duorinaah was among the 777 new lawyers called to the Ghana Bar on October 11, 2024.
This is unprecedented because it is the first time a Ghanaian with such a defect has risen to this foot.
Mr. Juventus Duorinaah, originally from Wa in the Upper West Region, began his education at the Wa School for the Deaf. He later attended the Senior High Technical School for the Deaf (SHTSD), completing his studies there in 2007.
He continued his academic journey at the University of Ghana, earning a first-class degree in sociology and political science. Following this, he pursued a Master of Laws at Cardiff University’s School of Law and Politics, specializing in Human Rights Law.
Upon returning to Ghana, Mr. Duorinaah enrolled in the University of Ghana's law degree (LLB) program, where he graduated with second-class lower honors. He then successfully passed the entrance exams for the Ghana School of Law.
After six years of rigorous legal training, his determination paid off as he was called to the bar. This achievement marks a significant moment for the deaf community, as Mr. Duorinaah's legal expertise enables him to effectively advocate for the rights of deaf individuals.
