Police in the Bono Region have arrested a 45-year-old mechanic, Bashiru Kinda, for his alleged role in the murder of two timber guards of ADRAS Timber Limited in the Mpamso Forest, near Nsuhia in the Dormaa Central Municipality.
A statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, confirmed that Kinda was arrested through police intelligence operations.
Police retrieved an Automatic Bruni Model 96 9mm K pistol loaded with three rounds of ammunition, four mobile phones, machetes, talismans, and other amulets from the suspect’s room.
Investigators say efforts are underway to track down other accomplices believed to have taken part in the crime.
The attack occurred on October 26, 2025, when the two timber guards — Sani Aliyu (34) and Ibrahim Musa (35) — were on duty in the forest.
A group of suspected illegal chainsaw operators reportedly ambushed and shot them, killing both on the spot.
Their bodies were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, and the assailants also set fire to a Toyota pickup with registration number GT 3079-17.
