Mason imprisoned eight years for robbing pharmacy attendant of iPhone
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court that the complainant, Salomey Ametefe Enyonam, worked as an attendant at Kingsley Nsiah Chemist at Atwima Techiman.
A 35-year-old mason has been sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment by the Kwadaso Circuit Court after being found guilty of robbing a pharmacy attendant at Denchemuoso, near Kwadaso.
Michael Okyere was convicted after a full trial before the court presided over by Jephthar Appau.
He had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Police Chief Inspector David Opoku Kwabi told the court that the complainant, Salomey Ametefe Enyonam, worked as an attendant at Kingsley Nsiah Chemist at Atwima Techiman.
The prosecution said the incident happened on January 22, 2025.
Ms Enyonam had reported for duty at about 9:00 a.m. when Okyere entered the shop about 15 minutes later and asked to see the doctor in charge.
She asked him to wait while she called the doctor.
According to the prosecution, Okyere suddenly became aggressive and pushed her against a refrigerator in the office.
He then forcibly took her iPhone 11, valued at GH¢4,500, and fled.
The complainant raised an alarm, attracting some young men in the area.
They pursued Okyere, arrested him and handed him over to the Denchemuoso Police.
In his caution statement, Okyere admitted the offence and pleaded for leniency.
After investigations, he was charged and put before the Kwadaso Circuit Court.
The court found him guilty after trial and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
