Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah has taken his dispute with Akwatia MP Bernard Bediako Baidoo and broadcaster Blakk Rasta to the High Court, demanding GH¢20 million in damages for alleged defamation.

The suit, filed in Accra, names Mr Baidoo and Abubakar Alhassan, popularly known as Blakk Rasta, as defendants.

Mr Baffour Awuah claims the two published statements about him on September 26, 2026, which he says damaged his reputation.

According to the writ of summons, the defendants have eight days after being served to enter appearance.

The Manhyia South MP wants the court to declare the alleged statements defamatory.

He is also asking for a retraction and an unqualified apology to be published with the same level of prominence as the original statements.

In addition, he wants the court to order the removal of the alleged defamatory material from online platforms.

Mr Baffour Awuah is further seeking a perpetual injunction to stop the defendants from repeating or republishing similar claims about him.

The suit also seeks costs, including legal fees.

The court action was filed through his lawyer, Hannah Araba Amoah.

Confirming the suit, Mr Baffour Awuah said he had decided to use the civil courts rather than pursue criminal proceedings over what he described as false publications.

“Unlike the government, I have chosen the path of democrats, by seeking relief through civil court rather than pursuing criminal prosecution for the publication of false news,” he said.

The lawsuit comes at a time of heightened political tension over the cases involving Salomey Awiti Baffoe and Camilla Alhassan.

Mr Baffour Awuah has alleged that the two women are being held in police custody.

He has also accused state security operatives of trying to intimidate and silence him.

The MP further alleged that Ms Baffoe had been “kidnapped by state security agents” and was still in custody.

These remain allegations made by the MP and have not been determined by any court.

Mr Baffour Awuah said the situation would not deter him from pursuing the matter or from pressing for the release of Ms Baffoe and Ms Alhassan.
