Man who allegedly stabbed pregnant wife to death dies in police custody

The 40-year-old suspect, who allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife to death on suspicion of infidelity at Nyankerease in the Ashanti region, has died.

He died on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

According to the police, the suspect fell sick after his arrest from his hideout and was taken to the Sunkyereso Government Hospital for treatment.

However, his condition became worse after he was identified to have taken a poisonous substance in a bid to commit suicide after killing his wife.

The police added that he was subsequently taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he died on admission.

This was made known by the Public Relations Officer for the Ashanti Regional Police Command, ASP Godwin Ahianyo in a Citi News interview.

“After the incident, we mentioned that he went into hiding until his arrest at Kodie. When he was brought to the police station, he fell sick and was rushed to the Sunkyereso Government Hospital for treatment, it was there we got to know that he had taken a poisonous substance to commit suicide.”

“So the doctors were attending to him and his condition became worse and was brought to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and he passed on.”

He added that the body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue
