Man arrested for killing friend over romantic relationship with aunt

A dispute over a relationship has ended in the death of a 60-year-old man at Bawjiase Babianeha in the Central Region.

The suspect, identified only as Ezekiel, 35, has been arrested by officers of the Awutu Bawjiase District Police Command.

He is accused of hacking his older friend to death after allegedly warning him several times to end a romantic relationship with his aunt.

The deceased’s brother, Kojo Bentum, confirmed the incident in an interview with the media.

According to him, tension had existed between the suspect and the deceased over the alleged affair.

Reports indicate that Ezekiel had repeatedly objected to the relationship and asked the deceased to stay away from his aunt.

The disagreement allegedly escalated into violence, leading to the fatal attack.

Police later moved in and arrested the suspect.

He is currently in custody assisting investigators.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The killing has shocked residents of Bawjiase Babianeha.

Some community members say the incident has heightened concerns about violent reactions to personal and relationship disputes.

Acting Head of Family of Awutu Bebiaa Ne Ha, Nana Kweku Asare, said he was stunned when he heard about the death.

He described the incident as disturbing and called for calm as police continue their work.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
