Mahama signs Tribunals Bill, Customs Bill, Community Service Bill, others into law
The others are the Income Tax Amendment Bill, 2026; Value Added Tax Amendment Bill, 2026; Excise Bill, 2026; Energy Sector Levies Amendment Bill, 2026; and Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026.
President John Mahama has assented to 10 Bills passed by Parliament, bringing them into law.
The new laws cover taxation, customs administration, energy levies, cocoa regulation, maritime offences, national defence education and justice sector reforms.
The Bills include the Tribunals Bill, 2026; Customs Bill, 2026; Community Service Bill, 2026; Maritime and Related Offences Bill, 2026; and National Defence University Bill, 2026.
The others are the Income Tax Amendment Bill, 2026; Value Added Tax Amendment Bill, 2026; Excise Bill, 2026; Energy Sector Levies Amendment Bill, 2026; and Ghana Cocoa Board Bill, 2026.
The President’s assent follows Parliament’s passage of the Bills over the past month.
The tax-related laws are expected to affect Ghana’s revenue framework, including income tax, VAT and excise provisions.
The Energy Sector Levies Amendment law also makes changes to legislation governing levies in the energy sector.
The Ghana Cocoa Board law provides a new legislative framework for the operations and regulation of the cocoa sector.
The Customs law deals with customs administration, enforcement and related matters.
The Community Service and Tribunals laws form part of reforms affecting the justice system.
The Maritime and Related Offences law addresses offences within Ghana’s maritime space.
The National Defence University law establishes the legal basis for the country’s defence university.
With the President’s assent, the 10 pieces of legislation have completed the legislative process and are now law.
