The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama has issued an urgent directive to annul all allocations and sales of land belonging to the ministry.

According to Ablakwa, this decision aims to protect government-owned properties and prevent unauthorized takeovers of public land.

In a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, March 5, the minister highlighted that the directive particularly impacts land adjacent to the Foreign Affairs Ministry in the Airport Residential area. Under the previous administration, this land had been assigned to seven entities and individuals.

"With the President’s intervention, the disputed land near the Ministry at Airport Residential—previously claimed by seven individuals and organizations—will now be repossessed and reserved for the benefit of the Ghanaian people," he stated.

Expressing gratitude to President Mahama, Ablakwa commended his firm stance in safeguarding state assets. He described the decision as a bold and patriotic step in ensuring that the ministry maintains control over its properties.

“I deeply appreciate President Mahama’s resolute and patriotic leadership in this matter,” he added.

The Foreign Minister also assured the public that, under his tenure, no property belonging to the ministry—whether within Ghana or abroad—would be sold.

“As long as I am Foreign Minister, no property or land under the Ministry’s control, whether local or international, will be put up for sale,” he vowed, emphasizing his commitment to preserving state resources.
