Mahama charges new Court of Appeal Justices to be guardians of justice and hope
At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Jubilee House on Thursday, October 2, the President reminded the judges that the oath they had taken carried weight beyond the formalities of the day.
President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly sworn-in Justices of the Court of Appeal to embrace their calling as more than interpreters of the law, but as “custodians of hope” for the Ghanaian people.
At the swearing-in ceremony held at the Jubilee House on Thursday, October 2, the President reminded the judges that the oath they had taken carried weight beyond the formalities of the day.
“It is an oath made not just before the President and the Chief Justice, but before God, before history, and before the citizens whose futures your rulings will shape,” he said.
He impressed upon them that justice remains the strongest guarantee of Ghana’s democracy. “Through your service, this sacred promise will live on,” he added.
President Mahama encouraged the new justices to act with integrity and fairness, noting that their true legacy would not be confined to law reports, but etched in the collective memory of Ghanaians as judges who strengthened faith in the republic.
“May your judgments reflect wisdom, may your service demonstrate fidelity, and may your legacy endure,” he said, before extending congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Ghana. “May justice triumph, may hope be sustained, and may our nation be continually renewed.”
