The Madina District Court has granted GH¢100,000 bail to Mustapha Iddrisu Danlad, the man accused of firing indiscriminately during a fire outbreak at Madina Redco on August 3, injuring six people.

Danlad, who claims to be a Task Force Officer with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), must provide three sureties, one of whom is to justify the bail with a land title deed worth at least GH¢50,000. He has also been ordered to report to the Madina Police every Wednesday.

The court directed prosecutors to file disclosures by October 23, 2025, with the substantive case adjourned to October 24, 2025.

The Charges

Danlad faces charges of:

Discharge of firearms without authority

Possession of firearms without authority

Three counts of causing harm

He has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors, led by Chief Inspector Daniel Danku, told the court that officers of the Madina Police Command were helping the Fire Service fight the blaze when Danlad got into a misunderstanding with some individuals.

Although the confrontation was initially resolved, Danlad allegedly returned with a pump-action gun and began firing without provocation, sending people running for cover. Six bystanders were struck by pellets and rushed to the hospital, with some later referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

Danlad reportedly went into hiding after the shooting but was arrested on September 12, 2025, at Redco Flats. In his caution statement, he allegedly admitted to the act.
