Lotto agent granted GH¢200,000 bail over alleged false TikTok claims about Bawumia
Prince Aboagye, also known as Atutulagh, has been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace and publication of false news.
A TikTok video containing alleged insults and false claims about former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has landed a 39-year-old lotto agent before court.
Prince Aboagye, also known as Atutulagh, has been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace and publication of false news.
He pleaded not guilty.
The court granted him bail in the sum of GH¢200,000 with three sureties.
One of the sureties must be justified with landed property.
The case has been adjourned to August 19, 2026.
Aboagye is also said to be the Agona West NDC Branch Organiser.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Seth Frimpong, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant in the case is the Ghana Police Service.
According to the prosecution, police became aware in July 2026 of a TikTok video posted on an account with the handle @atutulagh.
The account is alleged to be operated by Aboagye.
In the video, the prosecution said Aboagye allegedly made offensive and false statements against Dr Bawumia.
The alleged remarks included claims that Dr Bawumia had killed a subordinate and slept with people’s wives and subordinates.
The prosecution said the publication was likely to provoke a breach of the peace.
Aboagye was arrested on July 19, 2026.
The court heard that in his caution statement, he admitted recording and publishing the video on his TikTok account.
He, however, stated that the allegations made in the video were false.
The matter will return to court on August 19.
