Lighthouse lawyer withdraws his representation
The church is expected to present a new legal team in the coming days
Rodney Heward-Mills, lawyer to Lighthouse Chapel International has withdrawn from representing the church, in all six cases brought against it by former pastors of the church.
This is according to a notice dated Ocotber 4, 2021, that was addressed to the Registrar of the High Court in Accra.
“TAKE NOTICE and Notice is hereby given that HEWARD-MILLS & ASSOCIATES AGBADO CHAMBERS DO HEREBY WITHDRAW THEIR SERVICES as solicitors in this suit,” parts of the letter read.
The lawyer represented the church in all six suits and was in court for all five hearings so far.
It is however unclear why the lawyer has withdrawn from the cases.
Rodney Heward-Mills, a lawyer with almost 50 years experience at the bar, was handling cases filed against Lighthouse Chapel International by former ministers; two bishops, Larry Odonkor and Emmanuel Oko Mensah and four pastors, Edward Laryea, Edem Amankwa, Seth Duncan and Faith Fiakojo.
The former ministers are accusing the church of non-payment of SSNIT, exploitation and emotional abuse.
The church is expected to present a new legal team in the coming days.
