Lawra: Man jailed 20 years for incest involving biological daughter
The court also sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment for threatening the life of the survivor.
A 47-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment by the Circuit Court in Lawra after being found guilty of incest involving his biological daughter.
Kwame Ti-Zaaelcuu was convicted after a full trial before His Honour Stanley Adjei on Friday, July 24, 2026.
The court also sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment for threatening the life of the survivor.
Both sentences will run concurrently in hard labour.
The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Lawra District Police Command after a complaint was lodged against Ti-Zaaelcuu.
According to the Upper West Regional Police Command, investigations established that the convict sexually abused his 17-year-old daughter over a period of time.
The survivor is a Junior High School student.
Police said Ti-Zaaelcuu also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the abuse.
After hearing the case, the court found him guilty of incest and threat of death.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered the Department of Social Welfare in Lawra to provide counselling and psychosocial support for the survivor.
The Upper West Regional Police Command commended the investigators and prosecutor for their professionalism and commitment in handling the case.
The Command also urged the public to report all forms of sexual and domestic abuse promptly to the police.
It said early reporting will help ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice and survivors receive the support they need.
