The Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has denied reports that former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot during an incident at the church’s property at Kwabenya.

The church says the claims are false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 21, the leadership of Kristo Asafo said the incident rather involved damage to the entrance gates of the property after a church event.

According to the statement, Adwoa Safo allegedly drove her vehicle into the gates, damaging two metallic gates at the entrance.

The church said worshippers and invited guests were still within the premises when the incident occurred.

It said the development created a serious risk to lives and property.

The leadership explained that security personnel at the property intervened to prevent the situation from escalating and to protect people at the scene.

Kristo Asafo also dismissed reports suggesting that Adwoa Safo’s brother, Kwadwo Safo Jnr, shot her.

The church described that claim as inaccurate and urged the public not to rely on unverified accounts of the incident.

It called on the relevant authorities to investigate the matter fully and establish the facts.

The leadership also appealed to the public to allow due process to take its course.

It said the church remains committed to cooperating with lawful investigations into what happened at the Kwabenya property.
