Two women who appeared in a viral video pleading for help after being kidnapped have been successfully rescued through a coordinated effort by the Ghana Police Service, the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and the Nigerian Police Force.
The dramatic rescue comes in the wake of public outrage sparked by the widely circulated video, which prompted urgent demands for swift intervention by authorities. The Ghana Police confirmed that eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the abduction. These arrests occurred across multiple locations in Ghana and Nigeria, underscoring the cross-border nature of the crime.
In a brief statement released on Thursday, the Ghana Police commended the joint efforts that led to the safe recovery of the victims. “We are deeply grateful to the NSB and the Nigeria Police Force for their crucial assistance in this operation,” the statement noted, adding that more information regarding the identities of the suspects and the circumstances of the rescue will be provided in due course.
This successful operation highlights the growing collaboration between West African law enforcement agencies in combating transnational criminal activity, particularly human trafficking and organized abduction.
