Those convicted are Elizabeth Agyekumwaa, 24; Emmanuel Kyei, 23; and Issah Safianu, 23. A fourth accused, Prince Akwesi Ntim, 23, is standing trial.
Three people have been jailed over a suspected QNet-related fraud and illegal adoption scheme in Kasoa, with a fourth accused person still before the court.
The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court, presided over by Nana Asantewaa Atakorah, imposed a total custodial sentence of 24 months with hard labour following a police intelligence operation in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
Those convicted are Elizabeth Agyekumwaa, 24; Emmanuel Kyei, 23; and Issah Safianu, 23. A fourth accused, Prince Akwesi Ntim, 23, is standing trial.
Case investigator Chief Inspector Josephine Amoasi told the court that the Central East Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) acted after receiving a report on 26 December 2025 that 23-year-old Priscilla Ninson had gone missing from Asamankese in the Eastern Region and was believed to be in Kasoa.
On 3 January 2026, officers began tracking the suspects. The accused later sent a text message to the victim’s mother, asking her to bring medication to Kasoa because her daughter was allegedly unwell.
Police officers from the PID posed as relatives and arranged to meet the suspects under the Kasoa Overpass. The operation led to the arrest of Ntim, which in turn resulted in the arrest of the other three accused and the rescue of five alleged victims.
Some of those rescued were said to have been lured from Techiman, Obuasi, Kumasi and other parts of the country.
Investigations revealed that the group was allegedly running a QNet-style recruitment scam, demanding GH¢30,000 from each victim on the promise of securing travel to Germany.
The judge handed down sentences amounting to 24 months’ imprisonment with hard labour, with the three convicted persons expected to serve eight months each.
The court also ordered that a pregnancy test be conducted on the female accused before her final sentence is confirmed. She is expected to reappear in court on Wednesday, while Ntim’s trial continues.
