Judicial Service to recover GHS 6,430 from a dismissed court registrar

A former Court registrar caught on camera by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in his expose is being pursued by the judicial service to recover over GHS 6,430.

The former registrar of the Offinso District Court called Abdallah Yahaya Yeddor was captured in the Auditor General’s 2017 report as having understated court deposits cash book entries between July and December 2015.
Furthermore, the said former registrar collected GHS22,000 as total revenue between January 2016 and April 2017 yet paid only GHS21,000 into the account of the Judicial Service.
The Deputy Director of Finance of the Judicial Service, Mr.Charles Idan indicated when he appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament that the former registrar was dismissed after a committee by the former chief Justice implicated him.
According to Mr Idan, the Judicial service is in the process of formally writing to SSNIT use part of the former registrar’s entitlement to settle the debt.
“Here we are today and with the mandate from this honourable house, we will be able to write to SSNIT because he has his entitlement, so we will be able to appropriate part of his entitlement to defray this infraction,” he indicated to the PAC.
