Involve lawyers when starting companies for sustainability- Veritas Int'l Director
She made this known at a roundtable discussion held to commemorate the five-year anniversary of Veritas International and Trustees Limited, this week.
Founder and Supervising Director of the Veritas International Nominees and Trustees Limited, Mrs lady-Ann Essuman has advised owners of companies to do well to involve lawyers at the initial stages of new companies in order to enhance the sustainability of their businesses.
According to her, establishing companies, necessarily make those new businesses have a professional outlook thereby bestowing legal backing for further expansion thus emphasizing the need for lawyers to guide owners in this regard.
She made this known at a roundtable discussion held to commemorate the five-year anniversary of Veritas International and Trustees Limited, this week.
The discussion centered on the topic; ‘Doing Business in Ghana: A legal perspective.’
Also in attendance was the Registrar of Companies, Madam Jemima Oware, who indicated that even though some companies have updated their records with her outfit, over one million are yet to update the same.
She, therefore, gave an insight into new software that will easily aid companies to submit their applications online.
Additionally, the Registrar of Companies mentioned that this new online system will be more digital than the existing one thus calling on business owners to take advantage of the online system when launched, to interact easily with the ORC.
The Office of the Registrar of Companies is in charge of the registration of businesses such as private-public companies limited and unlimited by shares, private-public companies limited by guarantee, including churches, schools, NGOs, CSOs, associations, unions, external companies, and professional bodies.
Established by the Companies Act 2019, Act 992, the ORC focuses on business registration and licensing, whereas, the RGD would continue to deal with registrations of marriages, estates, and industrial property rights.
