Ho: 11 foreign nationals, Ghanaian arrested for commercial sex work

The Police Intelligence and Operations Units in the Volta Region have arrested 11 foreign nationals and a Ghanaian for engaging in commercial sex work within the Ho Municipality. 

Dennislaw News cannot independently confirm the names of the suspects. But according to reports, they are; Flourish Sampson, Gifty Blessing, Gloria John, Blessing Sunday, Sonia Asare, Chiamaka Okulen, Tosin Deli Ada, Rachael Francis, Grace Paul, Annabel John, Juliet Chiamaka, and Joy Tin.

Police say their intelligence reports linked the activities of commercial sex workers to break-ins, robbery, and the recent incidents of murder within the Municipality.

Sex work in Ghana is currently illegal under the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).

Rights groups such as the Human Rights Advocacy Centre have over the years called on the government to decriminalize sex work.

Police have however indicated that they will sustain such operations.
