The Ministry said it is acting on instructions of the President, while an inquiry into the matter concludes.
The government has suspended the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul Mumin Issah, the Local Government Ministry said in a statement.
The MCE’S suspension follows the incident of dangerous driving by the former, and verbal assault of a police officer, Superintendent Andrew Sarfo near a checkpoint on February 3, 2022.
The Ministry said it is acting on instructions of the President, while an inquiry into the matter concludes.
“Without prejudice to the matter now before court, Government takes a very dim view of the comments made by the Metropolitan Chief Executive during his exchange with the Police,” the statement read.
“The comments by the Chief Executive run contrary to the Government’s belief and work to ensure that our Security Agencies are resourced, empowered and accorded the respect to deliver on their mandates.”
