GIS repatriates 55 foreigners over fraudulent schemes in Tamale

The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has repatriated 55 foreign nationals following intelligence-led operations in Tamale.
According to a press statement, the individuals were victims of alleged fraudulent activities and were also found to be without proper immigration documents. The move comes after Comptroller-General of Immigration Samuel Amadu Basintale directed regional and border commanders to step up efforts against cyber fraud and related immigration breaches.
In one operation, 38 Burkinabes were rescued from a suspected network marketing scheme identified as NEOLIFE. Investigations revealed they had no valid travel papers. A similar exercise in another part of Tamale uncovered 17 more Burkinabes allegedly tied to the QNET scheme, also without proper documentation.
All 55 individuals have since been repatriated. Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to protecting Ghana’s borders while ensuring the safety and lawful treatment of foreign nationals.
