The Ghana Immigration Service has repatriated 105 foreign nationals after an intelligence-led operation in Asankragwa exposed a suspected human trafficking network.

The operation was carried out on May 20, 2026, by the Asankragwa Sector Command under Assistant Commissioner of Immigration Kwabena Adjei.

Immigration officers raided premises suspected to be housing foreign nationals allegedly involved in commercial sex activities.

A total of 112 females were rescued during the operation.

According to the GIS, initial checks showed that the group included 110 Nigerians, one Beninese and one Cameroonian.

Their ages ranged from 12 to 38.

After the raid, the individuals were moved to a holding centre in the Greater Accra Region for further screening and processing.

Further investigations were conducted by the Service’s Anti-Human Smuggling and Trafficking in Persons unit.

The unit confirmed 105 of the individuals as victims and identified seven others as suspects.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 1, the GIS said its National Operations Department worked with the relevant embassies and representatives of the Cameroonian community in Ghana to facilitate the safe return of the victims.

The seven suspects remain under investigation.

The Service said they may be prosecuted if evidence establishes their involvement in trafficking or related offences.

Comptroller-General of Immigration Samuel Basintale Amadu urged foreign nationals in Ghana to comply with immigration and criminal laws.

He said the GIS would continue working with other security agencies to combat human trafficking, migrant smuggling and other transnational crimes.
